Specialising in Grief, Health-Related Challenges, and Emotional Overwhelm

If life feels emotionally demanding right now โ€“ as though the world is asking more of you than you can give โ€“ youโ€™re not alone.

Many people I work with feel worn down by stress, anxiety, low mood, or a quiet sense of having lost themselves along the way. You might be living with grief or loss, navigating serious health challenges such as cancer, supporting someone you love as a carer, or simply feeling exhausted and unsure how to keep going.

Often, there isnโ€™t one single cause- just a gradual build-up of emotional strain that becomes harder to carry alone.

I offer a compassionate, confidential space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and begin to feel steadier, more grounded, and more like yourself again.

My work as a counsellor is deeply shaped by personal experience.

I have been both a patient and a carer, and I understand how vulnerable and isolating these roles can feel. Counselling supported me through the long lasting impact of cancer treatment โ€“ including fatigue, brain fog, change to identity and femininity, and the emotional toll of holding family life together during that time.

Therapy also helped me to process painful experiences from childhood that left me feeling undervalued, ashamed, and disconnected from who I truly was. Through this work, I developed resilience, emotional understanding, and self-help skills that continue to support me today.

These experiences inspired me to train as a counsellor, and it is a privilege to walk alongside others as they navigate their own difficult chapters.

Supporting Adults Through Major Life Transitions, Chronic Illness and Emotional Exhaustion

Sometimes life changes gradually โ€“ but the emotional impact can feel enormous.

You may be adjusting to a health condition, living with chronic fatigue or M.E., navigating menopause or retirement, grieving a loss, or quietly struggling with a version of life that no longer feels like the one you expected.

On the outside, you might still be managing day-to-day life. Inside, you feel emotionally exhausted overwhelmed, anxious, low, or unsure of who you are now.

Many people I work with are used to being the one who keeps things going โ€“ caring for others, pushing through, staying strong, or trying to adapt quietly without wanting to burden anyone else.

But living with change, loss, uncertainty, or reduced capacity can affect far more than people realise.

    Sometimes you are grieving:

    • The life you had before.
    • The energy you once had.
    • The version of yourself that felt more capable, independent, or certain.

Iโ€™m Jane, a counsellor offering a calm, compassionate space where you can slow down, process whatโ€™s changed, and begin finding your footing again at a pace that feels manageable for you.

You might be grieving something that others donโ€™t fully see.

    How I Work

    My Approach

I believe therapy works best when you feel able to exhale a little โ€“ when you donโ€™t have to keep holding everything together or pretending youโ€™re coping better than you are.

Feeling safe, understood and respected creates the fountain of meaningful change.

Life transitions and chronic illness often stir up deeper feelings around identity, pressure, self-worth, responsibility, and the expectations we place on ourselves.

Together, we gently explore these experiences while also finding practical ways to support you in everyday life.

Sessions move at your pace. Some people need space to process emotionally. Others find it helpful to explore practical strategies for managing overwhelm, anxiety, stress or the emotional impact of chronic health difficulties.

We shape the work around what feels most helpful and manageable for you.

    A little about me

My work is shaped by both professional and personal understanding of how life can quietly change us through illness, loss, responsibility, unexpected transitions, and periods where simply getting through the day can feel exhausting.

Alongside supporting people through life transitions, I also have personal understanding of living with M.E., which can bring its own emotional challenges, losses, frustrations and misunderstandings that are often difficult to explain to others.

Clients often describe me as calm, grounded and compassionate. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be real โ€“ not strong, not composed, simply yourself.

I offer sessions both face-to-face and online.

Whichever you choose, the space I offer remains the same โ€“ calm, unhurried, and entirely focused on you.

Online sessions work particularly well if youโ€™re managing a chronic health condition, fatigue, or simply find it easier to work from the comfort and familiarity of you own space. Many of my clients find that removing the pressure of travel makes it easier to show up and be present.

Face-to-face sessions are available for those who prefer to meet in person.

There is no right or wrong choice โ€“ only what feels right for you.

    Working Together

Life transitions and chronic health conditions can affect every part of life โ€“ emotionally, physically and psychologically.

When the world changes, people often expect you to simply โ€œadjustโ€ and carry on. But many people quietly experience the grief, fear, frustration, isolation, identity loss, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion beneath the surface.

Therapy offers a space where you donโ€™t have to minimise what youโ€™re carrying.

    Together we can explore:

    • The emotional impact of chronic illness or health diagnosis
    • Living with M.E. or persistent fatigue
    • Identity changes after illness or life transitions
    • Feelings of grief, uncertainty or loss
    • Menopause and mid-life changes
    • Anxiety, overwhelm or low mood
    • The pressures of always being the strong one
    • Relationship changes with partners, family or colleagues
    • Adapting to a slower pace of life
    • Retirement, caring responsibilities or changing family roles

Over time, many people begin to feel:

    • More emotionally steady
    • Less alone in what theyโ€™re experiencing
    • More accepting of their needs without guilt
    • Clearer about how to move forward
    • Better able to cope with uncertainty and change
    • More connected to themselves again

My role is not to rush you forward, but to walk alongside you as you find your way through what life has changed.

If anxiety, panic, overthinking or self-doubt have started taking over your life, youโ€™re not alone.

From the outside, you may appear to be coping whilst internally feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or constantly on edge. You may find yourself stuck in cycles of worry, overthinking situations, struggling with confidence, or feeling like youโ€™ve lost trust in yourself.

Panic attacks and anxiety can feel frightening and isolating, especially when your mind and body constantly feel alert, overwhelmed or exhausted. Sometimes people reach a point where they feel they are simply surviving day-to-day life rather than truly living it.

    How I Work

    My Approach

Using a person centred and integrative approach, we can work together to discover your new journey to happiness, fulfilment, and over-all health.

I will work with you at your own pace, reflecting on the wider picture. Through a number of sessions I would enable you to express how you feel and to feel heard in a safe and confidential environment. We will reflect on life events, working together to understand how our responses to those may be triggers to our behaviours and negative thinking. Exploring different coping strategies, working towards feeling more confident, happier and stronger, as you learn to be more positive, forgiving and resilient to yourself.

    How I Support You

Together we can work towards improving your confidence, help you to learn and understand yourself again, building your self-worth and self-esteem.

As a therapist it is humbling, and I am ever grateful to have people share what they are going through, their true feelings, grief, pain, trauma, addiction, abuse, their real raw emotions which is impacting their lives with me. Family, friends and colleagues would describe me to be someone who genuinely cares for people and as a natural empath.

    Working Together

I  offer a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of whatโ€™s happening beneath the anxiety, panic or low self-worth you may be experiencing.

Together, we can explore patterns of thinking, emotional overwhelm, self- criticism and the pressures that may have left you feeling stuck, disconnected or exhausted.

Therapy can help you feel emotionally calmer, more confident in yourself, and better able to manage anxious thoughts, panic responses and overwhelming emotions.

    How I Work

    My Approach

This step you are taking may have been a difficult one yet I believe that this could also be a hugely rewarding one for you and is, without a doubt, a courageous step to take.

It has always been an honour to work with such courage: an honour to be invited into your life at a time when you maybe want to hide away from your grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-confidence and a lack of self-worth. An honour to be asked to witness, share and support your pain and the impact this may be having on you, your family and your relationships.

Whatever you are experiencing right now, I believe that my work as an integrative therapist using a range of research and theories will, have a positive impact and allow you to feel stronger in the face of challenges. We will work together to recognise behaviours which hold you back, to heal pains from the past, to consider healthier mind-sets and to strengthen your self-confidence.

    How I Support You

No matter what it is you are experiencing, I provide an environment which is safe, warm and kind for everyone and as a committed therapist I will ensure our work takes place with your specific needs in mind. A space which is free from judgement, truly empathic, working to build mutual understanding and trust because through trust and understanding, I believe we can grow.

My goal is to support you in doing just that, to grow, to evolve, and to let go. To accept and to develop the skills you need to support yourself long term because letโ€™s face it, few of us wish to be in therapy forever.

However, sometimes accessing therapy โ€œISโ€ the answer and is the reason my deep passion continues. A passion, as a human being to support another. To play a significant role in making a difference in minimising your symptoms and maximising your daily function.

    Working Together

To begin your journey with me and to start living the life you envision then please do not hesitate to reach out. An initial appointment will be made for an in depth 50 minute assessment. This will ensure I have a good understanding of your presenting issues and will ensure that you are comfortable to start your journey with me. Just like building relationships outside of therapy, I believe that having an open, honest and trusting therapeutic client/counsellor is also important which will inform the work that we do. Furthermore, this is an opportunity for you to discuss any goals you have and to explore any concerns you may have about the therapeutic process.

I look forward to working with you when you feel that you are ready.

    My Experience

My experience as a Counsellor and Mental Health Specialist over a number of years has afforded me the opportunity to work with all aspects of mental health and the devastating impact this can have on individuals lives. I have experience working in demanding, emotionally charged environments with trauma, abuse, victims of crime and I am suicide ASSIST trained.

    How I Work

    My Approach

My approach is integrative and relational, helping clients explore both the practical patterns shaping their relationships and the emotional experiences influencing how the respond to one another.

I offer a reflective, compassionate and professional space to make sense of whatโ€™s happening, develop healthier ways of communicating, and rebuild trust where possible. My work is grounded in ethical, inclusive and culturally sensitive practice, with attention to to how to identify, culture, trauma, sexuality, disability, and neurodivergence shape our relational lives.

Chandel also works with young people, offering a calm and supportive space to explore whatever may be feeling difficult or confusing. She works thoughtfully with teenagers and young adults who may be struggling with emotions, relationships, identity, or feeling under pressure, helping them make sense of their experiences at their own pace.

    Family and wider relational work

Alongside couples therapy, I am experienced in supporting families through:

    • Co-parenting challenges and parenting conflict
    • Blended and complex family systems
    • Extended family and in-law dynamics
    • Intergenerational patterns that influence present relationships
    • Family court proceedings and parental alienation

My role is to walk alongside you โ€“ helping you understand patterns, emotions and reactions, and supporting practical changes that can be carried into everyday life beyond the therapy room.

Over time, this process can help you feel more grounded, more in control, and more connected โ€“ both to yourself and to one another.

    Working Together

In couples therapy, my role is not to take sides or decide who is right or wrong. My focus is on creating a calm, balanced space where both voices are heard and difficult conversations can take place more safely.

    Together we may work to:

    • Understand repeating patterns of conflict, distance or shutdown
    • Improve communication and emotional understanding
    • explore the impact of trust breaches and affairs
    • Reduce blame and increase clarity and compassion
    • Support reconnection, clearer boundaries, or separation with care

You do not need to know the outcome before starting. Therapy can help you slow things down, think more clearly, and decide together what feels right.

    How I Work

    My Approach

Life changes โ€“ even positive ones โ€“ can feel overwhelming. They can stir feelings of loss, loneliness, hopelessness, self-doubt or anxiety. When something feels unfamiliar, the mind can interpret this as a threat, leading to emotional overwhelm.

In therapy, we can gently explore patterns of thinking and responding that may be contributing to distress, and begin developing new ways of navigating challenges and transitions. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where you are heard, accepted and supported as we work towards greater understanding, clarity and renewed hope.

I offer a fully inclusive, affirming space and work with people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

    How I Support You

I work with adults of all ages, particularly those navigating life transitions such as grief and loss, relationship changes, family shifts, retirement, or a sense of feeling lost or disconnected from themselves.

My approach is gentle yet grounded. I will walk alongside you as we explore what youโ€™re feeling, why it makes sense in the context of your life, and how you can begin to cope differently. Many people come to therapy carrying long-held emotional weight that feel too heavy to carry alone. Therapy can offer a space to slowly unpack this, one piece at a time, with care and understanding.

Iโ€™ve worked with many clients facing very real, everyday struggles, and Iโ€™ve seen how powerful it can be to be truly heard.

    Working Together

Your initial assessment offers space to explore what youโ€™re experiencing and what you would like support with, and to see whether this approach feels right for you.

When youโ€™re ready, you can view my availability and book an appointment online.

    Understanding What Youโ€™re Going Through

I also support individuals who are affected by the emotional impact of difficult or overwhelming experiences, past or present. Through building a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can gently explore thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels safe.

My belief in the power of therapy comes from not only my professional training, but also from personal experience. Following a sudden bereavement and other challenging life events, I engaged in my own therapy, which had a profound impact on my life. This experience shaped both my personal healing and my commitment to supporting others.

Before I trained as a counsellor, I spent many years supporting adults with learning disabilities, much of it in a voluntary capacity. This work deepened my passion for helping people understand their emotions and improve their wellbeing.

I work with integrity, compassion and care, and I see every therapeutic relationship as unique. I would be honoured to support you.

Integrative Counsellor Specialising in Late-Diagnosis ADHD, Neurodivergent Burnout and Identity

Iโ€™m Andrea, an integrative counsellor offering a calm, neurodiversity-affirming space where you can slow down, untangle whatโ€™s been building up for years, and reconnect with who you are beneath the coping strategies.

If youโ€™re feeling burned out, confused, or quietly questioning why life feels this hard, youโ€™re welcome here.

You might look capable on the outside โ€“ holding things together, managing work, parenting responsibilities โ€“ while internally feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or on the edge of burnout.

Perhaps your mind never truly switches off. You replay conversations. You over think decisions. You start projects with energy and then feel frustrated when they stall. You may have spent years wondering why everything feels harder for you than it seems to for other people.

Many people I work with are late-diagnosed ADHD or neurodivergent โ€“ or beginning to question whether they might be. Some are waiting for assessment. Some have recently received a diagnosis and are trying to make sense of what it means. Others are simply tired of masking, pushing through and feeling as though they are โ€œtoo muchโ€ or โ€œnot enoughโ€ at the same time.

You donโ€™t have to keep managing this alone.

    Experience and perspective

Alongside my core counselling training, I have developed particular experience supporting adults experiencing burnout, identity shifts and the long-term impact of chronic stress.

Much of my work involves helping people make sense of patterns that have followed them for years โ€“ perfectionism, over-functioning, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown or cycles of overwhelm and exhaustion.

I have specific interest in late-diagnosed ADHD and neurodivergence in adulthood, and I remain committed to ongoing professional development in this area. I approach this work from a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-aware perspective.

I believe coping strategies are rarely random. They are often intelligent adaptions developed in response to earlier environments, expectations or unmet needs.

Therapy, in my view, is not about removing parts of you โ€“ but about understanding how they formed, and deciding consciously what you want to keep.

    How I Work

    My Approach

Therapy with me isnโ€™t about fixing you. Itโ€™s about understanding you.

As in integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful to you. That might include exploring patterns from earlier life, working gently with overwhelm and nervous system regulation, or finding practical ways to reduce burnout and self-criticism in everyday life.

If you are neurodivergent โ€“ diagnosed, self-identified or questioning โ€“ our work can include:

    • Understanding masking and its impact
    • Processing late diagnosis and identity shifts
    • Navigating sensory overload and burnout
    • Building self-trust and self-acceptance
    • Untangling shame that was never yours to carry

    Working Together

    Sessions move at your pace.

There is no pressure to perform, explain perfectly or have everything figured out.

Some people come with a clear goal. Others arrive simply knowing they cannot keep going the way they are.

    Both are welcome.

Over time, therapy can help you feel:

    • More regulated and less overwhelmed
    • Clearer about who you are and what you need
    • Less self-critical and more self-compassionate
    • More able to make choices from stability rather than survival

You donโ€™t need to change who you are. You may just need space to understand yourself differently.
